It is the nature of all aircraft to remain stable in flight. The balance of forces that flight produces provides a safety factor that must be monitored and maintained. It is therefore the task of the crew to maintain and monitor stability, supported by all the technological and aerodynamic benefits, and it is also known that loss of control in flight is one of the causes of aviation accidents with the highest fatality rate. We will see throughout this book that, although it is not the most frequent cause, it is one of the most critical in terms of its consequences. This trend has been evaluated worldwide, so the different aeronautical authorities, manufacturers and entities have contributed to training programmes and training in stall recovery and abnormal manoeuvres. The HDIW collection is always on the side of training, crew issues and safety; that is why, in this new book, we have focused solely on the analysis of the variables of loss of control. We firmly believe that professional training and recurrent training are the fundamental defences in the safety of operations.
