The 12th Wing is one of the main units of the Combat Air Command (MACOM) of the Spanish Air Force.
Its origin dates back to April 1958, with the creation of the 61st Fighter Squadron which, depending on the Air Defense Command, began to operate with the first combat jet aircraft of the Spanish Air Force, the F-86F Sabre (C-5, with call sign "Tenis").
This Unit is the repository of all the tradition inherited from the combat units located at Torrejón Air Base.
