Although almost a century has passed since the first gyroplane in history flew (Getafe, Spain 1923), the gyroplane remains the most unknown of all aircraft, often regarded as a mere intermediate step in the invention of the helicopter. While it is true that Juan de la Cierva's developments have full application in modern helicopters, it is no less true that the gyroplane is being reborn as a unique aircraft, thanks to its good qualities and safety in flight.
