It can be considered that the history of the Torrejón Air Base, in its short but intense life, has been a reflection of the history of Spain that took place between the second half of the 20th century and the years that have elapsed of the current century.
It witnessed the modernization of the Armed Forces, at the same time as the modernization of Spanish society. It reflected the social and political vicissitudes, and it was and is the best showcase of what our armies are.
This is not the history of an ordinary military unit, not even of an airbase; the Torrejón Air Base is, at the same time, a unit, and thirty units; it is its own history and the history of those thirty-one units that are currently based there, and of others that, over the last sixty years, over the last sixty years, have been located there.
Together with the Air Force units, logically the majority, we find others belonging to the the Army, the Navy and the Civil Guard, the General Staff of Defense, and even multinationals.
