Actuaciones y Limitaciones Humanas en el Medio Aeronáutico AVA

In this book, Dr. D.C. Velasco Díaz analyzes how the human factor is involved in most air accidents and how it is necessary to know the causes that originate them in order to avoid them.

Low pressures, low temperatures, meteorological phenomena, etc. pose problems that the pilot must face. Technological and instrumental development have facilitated flight, but at the same time challenges have arisen from the same technological advance. It is well known that most of the statistics on air accidents consider that the human factor is involved in more than eighty percent of them.

Text adapted to European regulations, which leads the reader to become familiar with the human factor responsible for flight and with integration into the air environment, in order to increase their safety.

Human beings have the ability to adapt more or less easily to the environment that surrounds them. Since the flight adventure began in the 18th century, the air environment has shown itself to be a hostile and demanding environment that requires a great capacity for adaptation. The capacity or inability to adapt, as well as the right or wrong decision-making, is decisive in terms of flight safety.

It is necessary to recognize the importance of the human factor in the quality and safety of the flight since the great majority of air accidents show a great incidence of the same one in them.

First ICAO, then JAA, and now EASA, have been giving more and more importance to this data, considering fundamental the preparation of the personnel with responsibility in flight, not only in the purely technical aspects of the aeronautical activity but also in all those referred to the area of the mentioned human factors.

The present work, adapted to the program of the subject Human Actions and Limitations established by EASA currently in force, is structured in three blocks preceded by an introductory chapter referred to the concept of Human Factors.

The first part deals with flight physiopathology, an anatomical and physiological remembrance of the main systems affected by the conditions of the aeronautical environment and the information processing system.

The second part brings the reader closer to the psychological aspects, defining concepts and analyzing the processes of learning, evaluation and decision making.

The third part includes some areas of health and preventive medicine of special interest in the aeronautical environment.
