Human beings have the capacity to adapt more or less easily to the environment around them. Since the adventure of flight began in the 18th century, the aerial environment has proved to be a hostile and demanding environment that requires a great capacity for adaptation. The ability or inability to adapt, as well as the right or wrong decision making, is decisive for flight safety.

The importance of the human factor in flight quality and safety needs to be recognised, as the vast majority of air accidents show a high incidence of the human factor in flight safety.

First ICAO, then JAA and now EASA, have been giving more and more importance to this fact, considering fundamental the preparation of the personnel with responsibility in flight, not only in the purely technical aspects of the aeronautical activity but also in all those referred to the area of the aforementioned human factors.
