In this book appear the memories of Carlos Martínez Vara de Rey (Breguet XIX pilot), Miguel García Pardo de Prado (Ace with Fiat CR.32 ) and Ángel Seibane Cagide (Junkers 52 and Heinkel 45 observer) which are intermingled with the actions of other famous aviators (such as the first shoot downs of Joaquín García Morato in the Southern front) or the training of the first Spanish Fiat pilots with the support of the Italian Aviazione Legionaria and their confrontation against Soviet fighters and bombers in the Madrid front.

Since, in general, war and aeronautical history always pays more attention to fighter pilots, the memories of Seibane, an observer-bomber in the Junkers 52s, who recounts his services in these trimotors, as well as his shooting down in the aerial battle of Jarama, gain more relevance. This is the first time that an extensive autobiography is published about the experiences of a crew member aboard the unforgettable Junkers. Like the Luftwaffe pilots, everyone in Spain knew that they were heavy, slow and unmaneuverable aircraft, but that they effectively fulfilled their missions.
