Only 199 original Ford Trimotors were ever built, and today barely 8 remain airworthy. This model pays tribute to that "strange" but brilliant aircraft that allowed pilots to monitor their outboard engines directly from the cockpit window. Ford Trimotor Model

Between 1926 and 1933 only 199 Trimotors were built at Ford's own factory. The corrugated metal on large, thick monoplane wings was a German development, used on Junker JU-52 aircraft flying the Berlin-Rome-London route. Trimotors were flown by airlines, oil companies and wealthy individuals. The Ford Trimotor and Junkers JU-52 were pioneering aircraft that led to generations of Douglas and Boeing aircraft fleets, which would soon span the globe.
