This book contains the description and operation of all the electrical components and equipment of an aircraft, as well as the recommendations that the technician must take into account during practice or work on them. In this new edition, many contents have been updated, including EWIS, lithium batteries, LED lights, electrical components, transmission lines, and data buses, among others.
Firstly, the electrical sources of an aircraft are explained, followed by the equipment that acts as regulators, converters and controllers of the electrical parameters, in order to provide adequate and quality electrical energy for each consumer element of the aircraft. This is followed by the electric motors and the configuration of the different electrical systems depending on the type of aircraft. It continues with the wiring used to distribute the electrical supply and the components necessary for correct operation. The lighting systems, both internal and external, are also explained in detail. And, at the end, there are several appendices with basic non-aeronautical electrical knowledge.
It is therefore a reference manual for aeronautical engineers and aircraft maintenance technicians, both in aeromechanics and avionics. In addition, it is a key work that covers the needs of schools where aeronautical courses are taught related to the electrical systems of fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Teachers and students will find in this book the ideal source of learning during the teaching phases and, later, it will serve as a reference work after completing their studies.
The author, Jesús Martínez Rueda, has extensive professional experience in the electrical-electronic branch of aeronautical systems, having worked in related aircraft/helicopter and on-board equipment workshops for more than 25 years. In addition, he has been teaching Aeromechanics and Avionics Vocational Training since 2002. He has also taught Aeronautical Systems at the University of Castilla-La Mancha.
