The Laco FRIEDRICHSHAFEN Watch is a faithful reconstruction of the legendary observation watches (B-Uhren) from the 1940s, combining historical essence with contemporary watchmaking. With an imposing 45 mm diameter, this watch captures the majesty of the original navigation instruments. Powered by a Laco 200 automatic movement (based on Sellita SW 200), it offers exceptional reliability. Its domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, along with Superluminova C3 on the dial and hands, ensures optimal legibility. Laco Original Pilot Watches, such as the Laco FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, are authentic reconstructions of the observation watches, also known as B-Uhren, from the 1940s. At that time, only a handful of companies were granted permission to build these pilot watches according to the detailed requirements of the Reichsluftfahrtministerium (RLM). With a majestic 55 mm diameter back then, these watches were used, for example, as navigation instruments. The five manufacturers (IWC, Laco, Lange & Söhne, Stowa, and Wempe) thus created a watchmaking classic that has become the model for many wristwatches. With its Original Pilot Watches, Laco presents the most authentic reconstructions of the B-Uhren on the market.

In addition to the Replika 55 with the original diameter, contemporary case sizes of 39, 42, and 45 mm are also offered, with the Laco FRIEDRICHSHAFEN being an impressive 45.0 mm model. All components are proportionally adapted to their respective size, always based on historical construction drawings.

Features shared by current models and historical ones:

  • Iconic dial without a logo, reflecting the original design where a logo was considered a distracting element.
  • Baumuster B style dials (inner hour circle, outer minute track), faithful to the observation watch configuration.
  • Case with straight lugs and a matte gray surface to prevent reflections in the cockpit, featuring a distinctive "FL23883" engraving on the side, an old classification number.
  • Optimal legibility day and night, thanks to the use of harmless Superluminova C3 luminous material on numbers, lines, and hands, unlike the radioactive material originally used.
  • Distinctive and easy-to-grip crown, designed so the watch could be operated even with gloves.
  • The solid stainless steel case back with engraving, which includes the unit number, manufacturer, and movement designation, replicating the practice of historical watches.
  • The rivets on the brown calfskin leather strap, which used to secure the strap to fixed bars, now serve only a decorative purpose thanks to the installed spring bars, maintaining the original aesthetic.
